Up for Adoption

Buddy's been listed at Aussie Rescue. I'm pleased they referred to me at a good samaritan, and recognize I at least tried. But man, he's been a handful! I really did not want to put him down, and hope we can find him a good home. I cannot deal with his quirks, however, and frankly am realizing Toby really doesn't want him here.

Over Thanksgiving, I left Buddy at the kennel for two days and left Toby home alone Thanksgiving day. A friend came by in the evening to feed him, and I got home around midnight. But over the two days Buddy was gone, Toby was much more playful, friendly and upbeat than he's been since I brought Buddy home. I told the folks at Aussie Rescue this, and they agree Toby doesn't want him here.

Monday I drove Buddy up to Sacramento for an evaluation. He did well, though the behaviorist did say he's a lot of dog. In a home with someone who has experience dealing with strong-willed Aussies, he should do well. But this home is just not the right one for him. I haven't taken Toby to the park, or for a walk in two weeks, because frankly I just can't deal with Buddy throwing a tantrum when I dare leave the house without him.

AR's looking for a foster home for Buddy, so I can get him out of the house while they're trying to find him a new home.
